Chris Moyles podcast and audiences

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4734729.stm

He is number one after only ten hours which is a good pat on the back to the bbc for doing podcasts with such a popular show. i think it is a good thing. chris could use this opportinuty to be more racey as he is always very restricted in what he says on the radio so he could just talk normally without having to read out the time every other record or do traffic reports. maybe he could to a soundseing tour on a night out without editing anything. i dont know, if i was the bbc i wouldnt just copy a show onto mp3 and save it to the internet - probably better to use it to say things you cant say on the radio becuase of rules, time limits and mary whitehouse.

i looked at the bbc site and i hope they realise their audience figures are a lot more accurate...

Before podcasting - Estimated 2 million per show

After podcasting - 445,223 downloads per show

which i think would be more useful to them as it takes the guesswork out. i've got 56 listeners today which is very accurate. who are you all though? i think podcasting would be better if podcasters knew who their audiences where, that way if you wanted people to advertise then companys would part with some money. i would be willing to part with a tiny amount of persenal information like my age (like on websites) if it meant that podcasters got a little bit of money as they cant be expected to do it for free. if i had my details in itunes and it told podcasts who i was that would be useful for them to help sell the shows to big companys.

Hey Roger, I'm one of the 56. Keep plugging away. There is one flaw in your post. No one expects you do podcast for free. No one expects anything, there is no "one" expecting. It's just you . You must do this because you have to, no other reason. If you hit the jackpot, win the lottery, that will be lucky. But if you expect to make more than 10 pence an hour out of your efforts....

PS I listened to Madge again recently, she sounded calmer, she's a broadcaster now, and pretty pleased with herself too, won't be listening again for a while. Does this sound nasty? Well it was all nicer before people started mentioning money!

if you want to make some money, do something that people need or want, learn something, get a fucking life, everyfucker wants to be famous, just sitting there talking about the olympics, chavs and speeddating and deliberately spelling things wrong..
This country needs teachers, doctors, nurses, not more fucking parasitic cunts avoiding the real world. Find a cure for cancer, that's what we want. Write a desent bit of software. But don't become another advertiser, that is for wankers.

hi anonymous

i do earn money doing things people need and want, i work in a hospital. i dont know how to cure cancer but help out all the doctors and nurses. i'm learning about computers by doing blogging and podcast, but if you think i should stop and watch tv all night then i will.

i was talking about the olympics because it was in the news at the time and was on my mind - i thought people wrote things that were on their mind in blogs. not sure what should go in blogs to tell the truth. maybe i should just go to other peoples and tell them all to stop blogging and cure diseases instead.

this is just in my spare time and i used to just keep a paper notebook diary before this so it wasnt like i was using up any extra time.

as for the spelling thing, its usually becuase i'm in a rush to type more than anything and i am so reliant on microsoft word and outlook express to spell check things for me. i know that 'decent' isnt spelt with an 's' though. as for advertising, i dont think coca cola will be approaching me to sell there products, i was talking about other popular shows.

I believe paid podcasts are going to be the next wave of podcasts that we’ll see, just like cable tv and satellite tv were the pay-per-view wave that followed free television. Click here: podcasting tutorial.

Hello. I used to live in Guildford, and recognised the picture of the Clock from the High Street - brought back some great memories :)
